I support the removal of shark nets at Noosa Main Beach during the whale migration season. Nets are outdated and ineffective, creating a false sense of safety while entangling whales, dolphins and turtles.
The KPMG review identified modern alternatives such as SMART drumlines, drones, listening stations and rapid beach-closure protocols that better protect both swimmers and marine life. Please act on these recommendations by committing to seasonal net removal at Noosa and investment in safer measures statewide.
